Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse or Educator Misconduct
In accordance with F.S.S. 1006.061(1), and pursuant to chapter 39, all employees and agents of the charter school have an affirmative duty to report all actual or suspected cases of child abuse, abandonment, or neglect; have immunity from liability if they report such cases in good faith; and have a duty to comply with child protective investigations and all other provisions of law relating to child abuse, abandonment, and neglect.

The Florida Abuse Hotline accepts reports 24 hours a day and 7 days a week of known or suspected child abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Section 1006.061(2), Florida Statutes, requires charter schools to post on each school’s website the procedures for reporting alleged misconduct by educators which affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student.
Allegations of educator misconduct may be reported to the school principal. Allegations involving the school principal may be reported to the governing board.

Failure to report educator misconduct may result in progressive discipline in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of the school up to termination of employment and revocation of educator certification.
